Sarah Palin was born on February 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho as the third of four children. Palin loved to hunt moose and run with her family. Sarah Palin went to Wasilla High School and was the captain of the girl’s basketball team. She was also the head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was given the nickname “Sarah Barracuda” for her quick reflexes and severe intensity. In 1982, she began at Hawaii Pacific College, staying for one semester before transferring to North Idaho College in 1983 and then to the University of Idaho. Afterward she went to Matanuska- Susitna College in Alaska. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications- journalism at the University of Idaho. She was in the graduating class at UOI in 1987. Palin won the Miss Wasilla Pageant in 1984. Afterward she went on to state competition where she ranked third in the whole state. She was elected Miss Congeniality of the Alaska pageant.
After college Miss Palin started as a sports reporter for CNN. In 1992 Sarah Palin ran for City Council of Wasilla. She beat John Hartick in 1992 530-310. In 1995 she ran against R’Nita Rogers and won 413- 185. After she served on the city council Sarah ran for mayor, winning for the next two terms (96-02). At the age of 42, Palin became the first female and youngest governor ever of Alaska. Miss Palin made kept all of her promises to make major budget cuts and cut way down on all of the allotted areas where money was focused. On top of that she sacrificed the governor’s plane to save money putting it on eBay! Throughout her political experiences, Palin has had 5 children. She has 2 sons, Track (1989) and Trig (2008). She also has 3 daughters, Bristol (1990), Willow (1995), and Piper (2001). Against high statistics, Palin kept her son Trig, even though he was diagnosed with Down syndrome before birth. Her son Track was enlisted in the US Army on September 11, 2007 leaving to go to Iraq for a year on September 18, 2008.
